Pour Your Heart Out, or In This Case; My Brain

My mind is racing, each thought passing through like a flash of lightning. A flash of an image, a passing thought, gone too fast to grab a hold of.

I have cancerous cells. It's early. I'm having a hysterectomy. I'm okay with it. It's what I need. I couldn't have any more children anyway. I have premature menopause. Good thing I had my girls early. I would've liked more kids. I'm grateful to have my girls. I can't feel bad for myself. So many are worse off. What will I feel like after? Will my tummy feel empty? Will I want to have sex? Will I feel different to my husband? Why am I thinking such stupid thoughts?! This is a good thing. I won't have to worry anymore. It's no big deal. Many people have had a hysterectomy. But, it is a big deal. It's major surgery. I'll be fine.

On and on my thoughts go by, they float on waves of an emotional sea with some waves crashing and breaking harder than others. The biggest wave of all:

I will be strong and I will survive and when my strength waivers, I know I will have you by my side.

Welcome to Tuesdays Gone at Life Music Laughter. At Tuesdays Gone, we're breathing new life into old posts every week. And, I bet there are some great old posts that just need to pulled out of the dark into the light!

Music Monday, This is Super Heavy!

Happy Music Monday! I have to thank hubby for finding this new group for me. While super Heavy may be a new group, I have no doubt that you'll recognize the band members which include Mick Jagger, Joss Stone, Damien Marley and Dave Stewart. The joining of these artists creates a unique fusion of sounds, and I love it!

Check out this very colorful video and let me know what you think of today's Music Monday selection.

Aloha Friday, Did High School Make You Who You Are?

The kids here in Florida are back in school. My oldest has made it through her first week of college classes, and my youngest is getting back into the groove of what will be her last year of High School. This got me thinking of when I was in High School. I hated homework, but loved going to school. I loved picking what clothes to wear, and meeting your friends between classes. I knew I didn't have all the "right" clothes and I certainly didn't fit in with the "popular" kids, but I made the most of it, and had fun with it. It's funny how when your in High School, it seems like it's your whole world, but then after high school you can go years without ever talking to the people that were such a big part of your life. Back then the worst punishment was to be told I couldn't be friends with someone, and, now we're not even friends on Facebook, and that's perfectly okay. If I think of who I was in High School, and who I am now, I'm so very different, yet in many ways the same.

This leads me to this week's question:

Do you think who you are now, was shaped more in your high school years, or in the years after school?

another turning point, a fork stuck in the road, time grabs you by the hand, directs you where to go, so make the best of this test and don't ask why, it's not a question but a lesson learned in time... (Green Day)

$50 GNC Giveaway

August leaves us all thinking about back to school. We think about all the school supplies, the back packs, and the new shoes, everything we need to have a successful new school year. But, did you know August is also Eye Health and Safety month?

Heading Back to School is a great time to schedule eye exams for the whole family. Your child's vision is essential to their success in school. Annual exams can help to detect changes in the eye and keep your eyes healthy. If your child is playing sports, it may be a good time to see if contacts may be beneficial to them. I know when my daughter played softball, we were able to get contacts that were tinted to help with her astigmatism and the glare of the sun.

Back to School Lovable Labels Giveaway

When my kids were small, they seemed to misplace everything! They'd take their jacket off over here, leave a blanket over there.., you know probably what every kid does. As they got older, and started playing sports, we had to worry, not just about misplacing their own things, but also about picking up someone else's! I know of at least one time where we only realized we had the wrong softball glove because it was a left-handed glove, and neither of my girls were lefty's! We tried labeling with permanent markers, but so called permanent weren't always so.

Boy, do I wish Lovable Labels had been around back then! These things are awesome! My little niece is 3, so I ordered some personalized with her name and a little skull and cross bone. My sister can now stick these labels on everything, her blanket, her shoes, her cups, everything! And, the best part is how durable they are. They are washer, dryer, dishwasher, and even sunblock safe.

Music Monday, Back to School Means Time to Party!

We moved our oldest daughter into her dorm on Saturday. Monday is her first day of classes at her University. My youngest will start her Senior year of High School on Tuesday. I just can't believe how fast the time has gone by. It seems like yesterday that I was teaching them to tie their shoes, and holding their hands to cross the street.

It can be downright depressing if I think about it too much!

Aloha Friday, What's your College Advice?

Happy Aloha Friday! I can't believe it, but tomorrow is the day my daughter moves into her dorm for her first time in college. I'm full of mixed emotions. I'm so excited for the experience she'll have and the memories she'll make, but I'm also nervous for her on her own, and a little melancholy to see her go.

So, with #1 going off to college, my Aloha Friday question for you:

Wordless Wednesday, Redneck Wine Glass

We played trivia at our local pub last night. We didn't win overall, but thanks to knowing that Don't Cha is by the Pussycat Dolls, I won this little gem.

Ladies, and Gentlemen, that's a Redneck Wine Glass!

Music Monday, Songs For School

Happy Music Monday! And, Happy New School Year! Soon children everywhere will be going back to school, like my youngest daughter, and off to college, like my oldest. So, in honor of students everywhere, we're celebrating Music Monday with school inspired songs.

Before I get to my classic choices, here's a selection from #1 High School Never Ends by Bowling for Soup

I thought Crue was so freakin' awesome back in the day!

You can't have a school post if you don't have Pink Floyd just like you can't have any pudding if you don't eat your meat. LOL!

Okay, and 1 more request from #1 a bonus track from Ke$ha (don't listen to this 1 with the little kiddies.)

Aloha Friday, Travel

A week ago, I was in San Diego for BlogHer. I will be writing more about the trip as soon as my brain catches up with Eastern Time. This trip was my first time in California, and the furthest I've ever traveled. (estimated 2086 miles from Tampa.)

it's so very lonely, you're 2000 light years from home (Rolling Stones)

What's the furthest you've traveled from home?

Back to School $25 DormCo Giveaway

It's August, and people everywhere are preparing to go back to school. For us, not only are we getting ready for back to school, but we're also preparing for going off to college.

My oldest daughter will be moving into her dorm in the middle of August. Since it's her first year in college, we've been excitedly shopping for all the things she'll need to make her dorm room feel like home.

A great site to shop for dorm decor is DormCo.com. They have an excellent selection of items to make any dorm room fun and functional.

DormCo sent me this foldable laptop desk for review.

It is very lightweight, and is easily put together, and folded after use.  Unfortunately for me, it wasn't quite sturdy enough for the weight of my large laptop, and the cup holder was smaller than my large cup.  It makes a great tray for breakfast in bed or a smaller notebook or tablet. Even though I can't recommend this product, I still recommend the site for your dorm room needs.

Dormco has many items that your local stores don't, including security for the dorm room, like this Anchor Lock System.

And unique Dorm decor like this retro sign.

The best thing about Dormco is that shipping is a flat rate of only $2.95 for your entire purchase with no minimum purchase!

Thanks to Dormco.com, someone will win a $25 Gift Certificate, and entering is easy.

Wordless Wednesday, A San Diego View

On my visit to San Diego for BlogHer 2011, I saw gorgeous weather, and great views. It was really such a beautiful city! These couple of pictures were snapped with my phone.

Music Monday, BlogHer11 highlights

Happy Music Monday! I just returned from BlogHer11 in San Diego. I had such a good time and met so many great people. My roommates, @momRN, @KarenMW, and @Frelle, kept me laughing all night, and joined in on some late night singing in the room. It was an absolute blast!

So for this week's music Monday choices, some musical highlights from Blogher11 room 957 crew. "Make Love not War."

After a flash mob to this during lunch, we couldn't get out of our heads.

San Diego Cab Ride Thrills

I'm in San Diego for the BlogHer 11 conference. I arrived late last night after a long day of working and travelling. My first experience in the city...One crazy cab ride!

Myself and 2 other bloggers hopped into the backseat of a cab at the airport, and he took off like a bullet from a gun and before I could even get my door closed! I frantically closed it, and then held on for dear life as we weaved in and out of traffic. We bounced around in the back seat as he took curves at 90 and slammed on the brakes just inches before the bumper ahead of us. I swear we even experienced some negative G's. Thank goodness our hotel was only 3 miles from the airport, or the other bloggers would be writing about how they ended up wearing my lunch! In California, you don't need a theme park for thrills, just get in a cab!

It's Music Monday, and My Birthday!

Today is Music Monday and... IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!! So, what better way to spend it than with my favorite band?!  I first saw The Rolling Stones live in 1989 when I was 16, and I've been in love ever since! I've never heard a bad Stones song, so it was hard to only pick a few to share, but here they are; some of my favorite songs by the Greatest Rock n' Roll Band, The Rolling Stones.

Happy Music Monday to you, and Happy Birthday to me!!
