Don't Write a New Blog Post, Link Up an Old One.

I started Tuesdays Gone over a year, ago because Mondays are so busy for me, so it's hard to get a new post completed for Tuesday. (I can't believe it's been over a year!)

With so many blog posts going up everyday, I'm sure there's some great stuff out there that has just been forgotten, or maybe some stuff that just didn't get much attention the first time around.  So, Tuesdays Gone is a way to bring your old post back into the light. I can't wait to see what you have that I might have missed the first time around.

It's great looking at old posts and remembering those moments when you first wrote it. My link up is from a busy time last year when we went to 3 concerts in 1 week! I had forgotten all about that! Wow! What a time! What will you be reminded of when you look through your old posts?!

Music Monday, Return to Forbidden Planet

Happy Music Monday! Today's theme at Monday's Music Moves Me is favorite Broadway Musical. So, this isn't really my favorite Broadway musical, and in fact it's not really a Broadway Musical because it's very off Broadway, but what the heck, I like it, so here it is...

Return to Forbidden Planet! This musical takes sci-fi, mixes it with Shakespeare, sprinkles it with classic rock n roll and tops it off with a whole lotta campy-ness for a mixture of incredible fun! Even my husband enjoyed this one when we saw it years ago in Tampa. (I wish I had recordings of that performance, because, wow! it was good!) Here's a few tunes from this fun musical. If this one is done in your town, go see it, it's a total blast!

Tampa, From atop a Gasparilla Float

This week is Gasparilla Fest in Tampa. It's our annual celebration of Pirates, and it's a blast. This past weekend was the Children's parade, and this coming Saturday is the more "adult" parade. I will once again be out there with my Pirate Krewe celebrating our favorite time of year. The many Krewes around Tampa work hard throughout the year, volunteering for various charities around the community, and holding their own fundraisers to give back to this great city. Gasparilla is our time to paint the town!

This past Saturday, I took the opportunity to get this picture of Tampa Bay from the top of our Krewe float.

Music Monday, It's a Pirate Party

It's Gasparilla Season again in Tampa, and that means a time to celebrate. What are we celebrating you ask? Pirates of course! It's the pirate invasion, and I will be lacing up my corset and putting on my boots for a great pirate party with my fellow pirate girls on Saturday. We will hit Bayshore on Saturday morning with all the other krewes. We will have our beads ready to toss to the screaming crowd. It's a huge Pirate party, and I can't wait! So, in honor of the good time to be had at Gasparilla, some party songs for Music Monday.

Have a happy Music Monday and a great week!

Vintage Christmas Find, 365 Project

It's not too late to take advantage of after Christmas sales. While the big stores may have already sold out of all the holiday goods, many small stores still have great sales on unique holiday decor. I found today's 365 project pic at a small boutique store in Tampa. This cool framed vintage Santa photo was only $4.00. I think it's just so interesting, and at that price, I had to have it!

Aloha Friday the 13th

Aloha, it's Friday! It's been a long week, and I'm so happy it's finally Friday. I've been in training this week at work, and I feel totally drained. I'm looking forward to a great weekend. Tonight, I'm slumbering at a friend's house so we can get up bright and early to head to Anna Maria Island. We will be setting up shop to sell our wares at the Thieves Market, (kind of a swap meet of sorts.) I'll be selling jewelry, and she'll be putting feathers and tinsel highlights in hair and selling her awesome tutus, (I'll be wearing the new tutu she made me!) What fun!

So, today is Friday the 13th, which makes many people nervous. Do you have any superstitions?

365 Project Day 11, Wicked Crafty

I've been busy tonight, crafting some new jewelry pieces. I was having so much fun, I completely lost track of time. There were so many more pieces that I wanted to do, but I didn't have all the supplies I needed to match my ideas. The good thing is, I have more reason to shop.

365 project Day 11:

365 Project, A Day Late

I knew it would happen. I couldn't keep it going. It's just not possible. Well, not for me anyway. It's day 11 of my 365 project, and I didn't post day 10. The good news is I took day 10 on day 10, I just didn't feel like going out to the living room to upload it on day 10. So, here it is. Day 10's picture on Day 11 which is really Day 12 because I started a day late. Phew! did you catch all that?

This is my Dublin, patiently waiting, and hoping, that I will get up and get him a cookie.

365 Project Day 9- Groovy

Today's picture, someone else's groovy VW van in a nice shade of green just like my envy. I would love one of these. Ah, it even has the little hula girl on the dash...

Pinterest Find: Loaded Potato Casserole

Oh my gosh! Another great find from Pinterest! today I made "Crack Potatoes." These are so named because they are truly addictive! It's basically sour cream, ranch dip mix, cheese, bacon and frozen hash browns.

I switched the recipe a little by using light sour cream (half the fat means I can eat twice as much,) I also used half the bacon. It was so good and so easy. I also love the idea of making it in disposable pans and freezing for later. Get the recipe at PlainChicken.com

My picture of the yummy cheesy goodness is 365 project day 8.

Music Monday, New Music for a New Year

Happy Music Monday! It's a new year, and I'm looking for some new music! I'll never stop listening to all the old favorites, but I just love finding new grooves.

I heard this one on the radio today. you may have already heard, it I think Glee covered it, but it's pretty new to me. We are Young by Fun.

I got lucky and found this on YouTube. The band "Walk off the Earth" does a lot of covers but they really do something unique with the songs and the videos. They have some originals too that are pretty good. I was intrigued by the entire band playing this song on just one instrument.

This is one is by Karmin. I wasn't sure if I liked it at first, but it's kind of catchy. I love the style of the video, and I now want to run around saying "you can kiss my oh my gaww" lol! Hope you like it!

What new music are you listening to?

365 Project Day 7, A Trolley

I can't believe it's been a month since I picked #1 up from college for Winter break. 1 month off, and it was time for her to go back today. She packed up the trunk and we drove to her school in St. Pete. I helped her carry her stuff into her dorm and said goodbye. I'm so glad she loves it at school, and has made such good friends. The experience has been great for her. I just wonder if it will get any easier on me.

As I stood outside her dorm admiring the palm trees blowing in the breeze, I waited for the trolley to go by, so I could make the long ride back home.

365 Project Day 6, Stromboli For Dinner

Hubby made Stromboli for dinner and it was oh so good!

He rolled out the pizza dough, (we use Publix pizza dough,) and then stuffed it with ham, pepperoni, capicola, and of course...mozzarella! A little melted butter and Parmesan tops it off before putting it in the oven at 400 for 20 minutes.

365 Project Day 5, Banana Pudding Cupcakes

My friend had a little birthday shindig tonight, and her friend made the most amazing Banana Pudding cupcakes. They were filled with banana pudding, like with real bananas, not that fake yellow stuff, and they were oh so amazing! I'd say I'll get the recipe, but these were way too above my level of baking expertise! But, seriously, oh were they good!

Aloha Friday, Resolutions

I don't really make New Years resolutions, like lose weight, give up chocolate, (cuz that would be broken instantly!) but I do try to make new goals for myself each year. For this year, I want to blog more. I've kind of gotten into a slump lately, so I want to regain the passion I had for blogging in the first place.

Do you make Resolutions?

Student Punished for "Not Positive" Shirt

She thought the shirt was funny when she bought it because school has not been a whole lot of fun for her. She's suffered the mental anguish of being bullied, and all the normal dramas of High School. Quite frankly, she can't wait to be done with school, but she's hanging in there rather than just dropping out. We knew not everyone would find the humor in it, but we never thought it would result in her picking up trash as punishment for wearing it.

My youngest daughter, a Senior in High School received 5 days of lunch duty for wearing a shirt that the Principal deemed to be a violation of dress code, not because it was too revealing, not because it was gang related, or profane; but because it did not display a "positive message."

Really?! Where's that in the student handbook?!

I'm so glad we only have a few months left to deal with this principal! This is the same principal that outed a lesbian teen to her parents. The same principal, that denied a girl in a tuxedo entrance to the prom because "girls should wear dresses", and the same one that denied students their diplomas because they tossed their cap in the air at graduation! (Isn't that a tradition?!)

Come on lady, what's the harm in expressing yourself a little bit?!

What's more positive than laughter? A shirt that can't spell school properly is just funny. So stop hating and just laugh at it. There are way more important things than worrying about a shirt not being positive enough! Like, hmmm, I don't know, how about putting a stop to bullying?!

By the way, my daughter can spell school properly. It was a rule before she could wear it, because it's not funny if you can't really spell school, not funny at all.

365 Project Day 3, Dinner

Is it wrong that I ate at Cheesecake Factory, and didn't bring home any leftovers?! Probably, but what they don't know...

At least I brought home dinner they like. And, even better, I didn't have to eat it!

365 project- Day 2, Keith Richards

I got Keith Richards for Christmas!

Ok, not really Keith Richards but an awesome picture of him! It was a gift from hubby that he ordered from someplace in Europe. It was late getting here, which I love because it's like having an extra day of Christmas, without all the stress that goes with Christmas.

So here's it is. Sorry to those of you offended by the "F' word, but it's art, and it is Keith. I just love that he is posing just like Mick. Thanks hubby, what an awesome gift!

365 project- Day 1, Blue Orchid

I've been wanting to start a 365 project for some time, so why not now, at the beginning of the year...it seems to make sense. Here's the first in what is sure to be a year of randomness.

I went to Lowe's today and saw this beautiful blue orchid. I thought about buying it, but, well, it's just too pretty, and too, um, alive, for ME to take home...so I'll spare it the suffering of my brown thumb. Hopefully someone with less of a knack for killing plants will take them home.

Music Monday, Old Music for A New Year

Happy New Year and Happy Music Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend, and I hope you're ready for a fabulous year. Let's kick it off with some light music. Today's theme is duets.

First off, a little morning duet with my daughter and her dorm roomie. When they're not studying, they're making videos for their you tube channel. Their silliness makes me smile.

I just adore this next one from an American Tale. I used to try to get my sister to learn a little song and dance act to this, but I was 12 and she was 5, and it just never came out the way I imagined it in my head. Our audience of stuffed animals still appreciated it, though. And, thinking on it now, I can't help but smile.

Sticking with songs that make me smile; a duet from Annie. I just love Carol Burnett! "Why didn't you say so in the first place?! Swine!"
