Link up a Great Old Post at Tuesdays Gone

It's Tuesday, already?! My how time flies! You know what Tuesday means, time to link up a great old post!

With so many blog posts going up everyday, I'm sure there's some great stuff out there that has just been forgotten, or maybe some stuff that just didn't get much attention the first time around.  So, Tuesdays Gone is a way to bring your old post back into the light. I can't wait to see what you have that I might have missed the first time around.

It's great looking at old posts and remembering those moments when you first wrote it.  What will you be reminded of when you look through your old posts?!

Music Monday, Songs from 98Rockfest

It's Monday, and what a great Monday it is! Not only is it Music Monday, but it's a Monday that I don't have to work, and tonight I'm going to the advanced screening of The Avengers movie. I'm super excited!!

I went to 98Rockfest on Saturday in Tampa with hubby, my youngest daughter, and her boyfriend. It was a great day! I went especially to hear Shinedown, but there were also some other bands I like and some ones that I hadn't heard before, but I really enjoyed. Although I was looking forward to seeing Evanescence play, I have to say I didn't enjoy them as much as I thought I would. They sounded great, but when they performed, her voice was just so soothing that it seemed to change the energy level. Great performance but just not the right line up for them. Overall, though it was a great concert.

Today's music choices are some of my favorites from the weekend.

Love this Shinedown song:

5 Finger Death Punch has done a great remake of Bad Company. At the concert they dedicated this to our military.

Halestorm's songs were all hard hitting. I love the edginess of their female lead singer. This is the song they're most known for, and my favorite by them.

Another excellent remake. This one by Shinedown. This is such a great song with a great message. The live acoustic version was amazing!

Have a happy Music Monday, and a fabulous week!

Easy Bake BBQ Chicken and Cheesy Potatoes

Tonight's dinner was an easy to bake meal. BBQ chicken with cheesy potatoes. My 17 year old told me it's one of her favorite meals, and considering she usually turns her nose up at most things I make, that's a huge compliment.

Here's how I did it:

1 bag of hash brown potatoes
4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
BBQ sauce (I used Sweet Baby Ray's Raspberry Chipotle, but use your favorite)
1 cup cheddar cheese (shredded)
1 cup sour cream
salt and pepper (or you can try cajun seasoning to kick it up a notch)
Planko bread crumbs

Combine Hashbrowns, sour cream and cheese season lightly with salt and pepper
Spread into lightly greased 13x9 casserole dish
place chicken breasts on top, cover chicken in BBQ sauce
sprinkle bread crumbs over top
bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes

Enjoy!

Announcing My Baby Girl is Graduating

It's hard to believe that my baby girl will be graduating from High School in a month. The time has gone by so fast. It seems like only yesterday, I was sending her off to kindergarten in her little blonde pigtails.

High School hasn't been easy for her. She's a very smart girl, but between depression and distraction, her grades slipped. She began bringing home report cards with D's and F's, (if she bothered to bring them home at all.) Only 5 months ago, she didn't want to finish school and was talking about dropping out.

She stuck it out, and pulled her grades up to A's B's & C's. I'm so proud of her, and I can't wait to see her walk across that stage to get her diploma. Now, that we know that she's going to graduate, I can't wait to tell the world!

It's time to pick graduation announcements. Tiny Prints has some great designs to choose from, and they can all be personalized. Which is perfect, because I want a special design to show how proud I am of my girl. She could have given up, but she stuck it out.  I couldn't be prouder!

Here's some of my fave designs from Tiny Prints:

I just hope I can decide before her graduation date!

Aloha Friday, Have a Rockin' Arbor Day!

Happy Aloha Friday! And, Happy Arbor Day! Okay, so nothing too exciting about Arbor Day, but I figured I'd at least recognize the day. I do like trees, after all.

I hope everyone is having a great week! Mine has been pretty good. I can't wait for the weekend. We're taking my youngest daughter 98Rockfest in Tampa with Evanescence, Shinedown, and more! I love concerts, so I'm super excited! I've never seen Evanescence in concert, so I'm hoping for a good show. No matter what, I'll have fun with Hubby and my Rose.

That brings me to this week's question:

What's the best live show you've ever seen? (if you don't do concerts, how about a play? um, school production, something, anything?)

Mine is still the Rolling Stones Steel Wheels in 1989! Just incredible! I don't think I'll ever top that!

Have a wicked awesome weekend. Stop by An Island Life for more Aloha Friday fun.

Wordless Wednesday, a Boy and His New Toys

Dawson is enjoying his new Spiderman and Mr. Potato Head toys. He ran around the house carrying them both in his mouth at the same time. It took forever to get him to stop for a picture.  And, he didn't stop for long.

The Spiderman toy is the kind that holds a water bottle, and he loves it!

Easy Coconut Cool Whip Cookies

In the words of my husband, "These are the best Summer Cookies ever!" I can't take too much credit for it. Sure, I stirred them and baked them, and picked the Coconut flavor, but the recipe for these Cool Whip Cookies came from my friend Shell at Things I Can't Say.

Of course, as soon as I saw it, I had to Pin it to my "Recipes to try" board on Pinterest. Seen here in Shell's Pink Lemonade flavor.

These cookies are so simple, even for a lazy baker like me. (Let's just say I like to eat home baked more than I like to bake home baked.) You just stir together a tub of cool whip, 1 egg and whatever flavor cake mix you want. I used Coconut because I wanted a Summer taste, (and because my hubby is a coconut fiend! I think he'd lick the walls clean if they were covered in coconut!)

Music Monday, Tub Thumping Good Songs

Happy Music Monday! This week's theme is 1 hit wonders. This was fun to look at 1 hit wonders over the years. There were so many songs that I had forgotten about. Ah, the memories...

After the walk down memory lane, here's a few of my favorites.

I spent many Saturday's listening to this song while cleaning my room.

The Making of Chimpanzee, and Aloha Friday

Disney Nature's Chimpanzee opens this weekend. I think the movie looks beautiful, and I've been interested in seeing it. I have to say after watching this "Making of" video, I'm even more excited to see this film. The filmmakers endured so much in the rain forest! Attacked by bees, their camp invaded by wildlife... All to show the beauty of chimpanzees! That's dedication to your work!

This Day's Gone to the Dogs.

Do you ever think about what your pets are thinking when they look at you? In our house, it’s common for us to try to interpret what the pets are saying, and to say it in what we assume the animal’s human voice would sound like. You can often hear us saying things like, “Dublin says, ‘really must you make so much noise?’” in our distinguished older doggie voice, or “Marilyn thinks, ‘why did you ever get these ridiculous dogs?’” in our snobby kitty voice.

Then there’s the other dog, the younger, goofier, bigger, black lab. The one who tries to run on the wood floors and slips and slides around the corner. The one who’s just a little sensitive, and will actually lock himself in the bathroom if you raise your voice because he doesn’t want to be around any arguments. The one who doesn’t seem to know that he’s NOT a small breed lap dog.

Really his eyes don't look so  crazy in person :)

Our Dawson, the goofball. This is what his day sounds like:

Wordless Wednesday, For the Birds

I got to the beach early Monday morning. It was beautiful! It was a morning for the birds.

Music Monday, Just Beachy

Happy Music Monday! Today, you can find me here:

And, this is some of the music I'll be listening to:

Yeah, I've got Neighbors

It’s so funny that you can live so close to someone and never speak. I live in a rather large subdivision, and I really only talk to 1 of my neighbors. Kinda sad, I know, but really, if you could see some of my neighbors, you would understand.

There is the guy across the street that sits at the edge of his garage chain smoking while staring at my house. Why he sits there when he has a perfectly good back yard, I don’t know, but I’m beginning to wonder if my house is under surveillance! Seriously, the other day he was in the exact same spot when I woke up that he was in when I went to bed the night before. I don’t think he moves at all!

Then, there are the 2 ladies that walk through the neighborhood every morning. I see them when I’m leaving for work. The right thing to do would be to wave and say “hi” but, all I want to do is scream at the top of my lungs while shaking them wildly!

Duck Tape Makes Everything Better

I have a storage bench that I keep in my bedroom. It's great for storing all my costume pieces for parade season. But, thanks to these guys, it's not so great to look at.

I don't want to get rid of it, because it still works. I just want it to be prettier!

The answer?

It's Tuesday Again, time to Link Up an Old Post

Music Monday, Wiggle over here for a laugh.

It's Music Monday! Today I'm enjoying a morning at the beach, and sharing with you songs that make me laugh. I hope they bring a smile to your face.

I can remember giggling to this as a little girl.

Pinterest Inspired, Buffalo Chicken Grilled Cheese

I was down to 1 1/2 chicken breasts on a no spend weekend. What was I gonna do with it?! Then it hit me, Pinterest! I had just pinned a buffalo chicken grilled cheese sandwich. I'll make that, or at least my version of it.

So, I cut the chicken breast into small cubes, seasoned them with salt and pepper, and cooked them until golden brown.

I then tossed the chicken into buffalo sauce. (My choice is extra mild Texas Pete's, because I like the flavor, not the heat.)

Then, it was time to make the sandwich, just like a traditional grilled cheese, I buttered both sides of the bread, and added 2 slices of american cheese. I then put a layer of chicken, and grilled until each side of the sandwich was toasty brown.

It was so yummy, gooey, cheesy, and with just the right amount of flavor.

It was a great way to use up the last bit of chicken. There was enough chicken for 4 sandwiches. We paired it with a salad for a great meal.

This is the pin that inspired me.

I didn't follow the recipe, at all, but I'm sure it's great. You can check it out here.

What have you pinned lately?

Tuesdays Gone, time to link up your posts of old.

I started Tuesdays Gone over a year ago, because Mondays are so busy for me, so it's hard to get a new post completed for Tuesday. (I can't believe it's been over a year!)

Happy Music Monday!

I can't seem to shake this song, it's just hangin' out in my head. I wonder if it will get stuck in yours.

Springtime Snack Mix

I went to a friends' house for game night last night. We had a good time playing board games, and just having a good laugh at each other. I never feel right going to someone's house empty handed, so, I made a Springtime snack mix. I love this snack mix because it's sweet and salty.

Remember, all that free cereal, I won? Well, what better way to use it, then to turn it into junk food!
