Ever Summer Cantaloupe Smoothie Recipe

As part of my new nutritional plan, I'm trying to eat more fruit and reduce my sugar intake. The easiest way to do this is with smoothies. I've been trying some different fruit combinations and I've come up with a delicious kick off your shoes and put your toes in the sand tropical cantaloupe smoothie. You're going to want to try this recipe. It is so good that no added sweeteners are needed.

How Music Can Close the Education Gap

Music Education is so important to helping children learn in other areas, but across the nation many school districts have cut music education programs. They argue that music is a hobby not an education, but evidence proves otherwise.

For myself, music kept me engaged in school. I looked forward to music class, so I looked forward to school. At times, I even used songs to help me remember key facts.  I can't imagine a world without music. Music is important to our culture and it's an important part of education. Don't let it disappear from schools.

See below for how music can be used to close the education gap. Then reach out to your local schools to urge them to continue to teach music to our children.

Songs to Study With #MusicMonday

It is the last week of school for this Semester and I can't wait for it to be done! I took a Personal Finance class that I thought would be much easier than it has been and a Business class that was easy, but boring, very very boring. I really learned a lot from the Personal Finance Class that I can use to help plan for my future with investments and savings, so for that I'm glad I took it, but there was just so. much. math. Seriously, I hate math! But, it's almost done and I might even pull off an A if I do well on the final exam.

With finals coming soon I need the right music to keep me going and to help me study. I'm spending this Music Monday with The Black Keys radio. I love creating stations from a certain band that I like because it helps me find new bands and sounds that I might not have heard if I relied just on mainstream radio. So today, I'm studying with some great music that sounds a little like this.

Earth Day Flowers

It's Earth Day! I hope you are having the best day, and hopefully taking a moment to think about the earth and how we can keep our planet happy. The Earth gives us so much. We can give back a little by recycling, conserving water, using less chemicals, and planting trees & flowers.

Happy Earth Day!

I took the first one home with me to brighten up my back patio.

Music Monday, Songs From 1990: When I was 16 #MusicMonday

Just like now, when I was 16, I loved many kinds of music. It's a lot easier now though because I know who I am and don't worry about where I fit in. I am happy to be me. But, in 1990, I was in High School, and High School puts a lot of pressure on kids to fit in to a certain group, wear certain clothes, and listen to a certain type of music. At times I struggled with not being popular, and not having the right clothes, but when it came to music, I liked what I liked and I listened to it all.

For this Music Monday here's some of what I was listening to when I was 16.

Garth Brooks with Friends In Low Places, this song was huge!

Community Coffee Review and Giveaway, Enter To Win!

I love coffee so I was thrilled when Community Coffee offered to send me their fabulous coffee to try. I was even more thrilled when they said they would also send coffee to one reader if I hosted a giveaway. So, here I am with a Community Coffee Giveaway. Find out how you can enter to win free coffee with an easy entry.

The great thing about coffee is it so versatile that it is good anytime of the day, hot or cold, and there are so many variations on how to make it. I prefer mine over ice with milk, vanilla and cinnamon, but I also occasionally like it hot in my favorite cup.

Furious 7 Review, Fast Action & Heavy Emotions #Furious7

I can't remember the last time I felt so emotionally involved in an action film, but watching Furious 7 knowing of the tragedy of Paul Walker's death, seemed to bring this fast action movie to a whole other level.

Furious 7 is the next chapter of this series built on speed and friendship. It picks up right where the last movie left off with the introduction of Jason Statham as the big brother that is out for vengeance against the team that put his brother in the hospital. I'm a huge Jason Statham fan, so when the opening scene is Statham in one of those suits that he wears so well, and he is in full on kick your ass mode, yep, I was hooked.

In fact, the whole movie really is one big chick flick. They just threw some fast cars, stunts and explosions in to keep the guys happy, but really, ladies, Furious 7 is for us.
