I don't know what I expected from Blue Man Group. I knew the concept, there are these bald guys and they don't talk. I knew they played the drums, made music on pipes, and I thought there was maybe some paint involved, but that was it. That's all I knew.
What I didn't know is that Blue Man Group gets the audience involved. I didn't know there was a "splash zone" or that I would be sitting in it with a poncho on. Yep, there I am!I didn't know that Blue Man Group is so funny, and that the more energy the audience has the funnier it gets. This is a live show with some great guys that know how to improv!
I also didn't know that the performers would leave the stage and climb out over our seats so I would be completely up close and personal with a Blue Man squatting over my head. I certainly didn't see that in the brochure!
But, what I didn't know about Blue Man Group is what made it so much fun. There is so much that happens that is planned, but there is even more that is unplanned and unpredictable. You could go to multiple shows and have a different experience each time because the audience is such a big part of the show.
If you've thought about going to see Blue Man Group but haven't for whatever reason, put all the reasons you haven't gone aside, and go. It is a great show that will leave you feeling energized and positively happy.
It's a great addition to a travel itinerary with multiple locations around the country. The location in New York is the Astor Place Theatre on Manhattan's Lower East Side. It is the original location for the Blue Man Group show. The small theater is a nice intimate setting for a big colorful show and I definitely recommend going if you're travelling to NYC.
