You Can Help Children in Poverty By Simply Sharing a Blog Post #Relay4Kids

Millions of children around the world are suffering without the basic needs of food and shelter, and they have no access to much needed medical care. You may be thinking, "What can I do about it? I don't have any extra money to give, I have no way to help." But, you can help. You can make a difference in the lives of these children, just by using your voice and the power of social media. I'm not asking you to give any money today, I'm just asking for you to use your voice and take time to share a powerful post.

Aren't the lives of these children worth a moment of your time?!

It's sad enough to think about children around the world going to sleep hungry, but add in the fact that many don't have a safe place to sleep or parents to give them a warm hug, and the sadness just becomes overwhelming. I want to help these children, but I don't have money to give so I sometimes feel helpless to do anything.

But, I have a voice, and you have a voice! We can use our voices to help make it a little better by sharing a post in the #Relay4Kids.

I remember hearing about the Ebola Outbreak in West Africa, and thinking how terrible it must be for the people dying from it, or the parents losing children from it. What I didn't think about was the children that are now orphaned after 10,000 deaths from the virus that has left thousands without parents.

In Syria, 5.6 million children, that's roughly the population of Philadelphia and Los Angeles combined,  are either caught in the line of fire, displaced from their home or are living in poverty.

We have to help these children! We can't just turn our backs on them because they are on the other side of the world. We have to do something to give them a better way of life. We have to let them know that somebody cares, that they are not alone in this world. They need to know they matter.

With Relay For Kids, we can help raise money to get them the food, shelter, and medical care that they need, with no money from our pocket. Right now, all we need to do to help is to share a post on social media. We share posts all the time, why not share one that will make a positive difference?!

Here's what you can do to help:
Visit the Relay For Kids page here, click on a daily post, this will take you to a Huffington Post blog. Simply share the article before 4/24/15 and $1 will be donated to SOS Children's Villages.

  • The virtual relay will conclude on April 24 with funds going to SOS Children’s Villages to help provide shelter, food and medical care to children living in crisis zones, such as Syria, Ukraine and West Africa.
  • In addition, people can upload a photo to Donate a Photo* and Johnson & Johnson will donate $1 — up to $20,000** — for children in crisis.
“Children worldwide are living in extreme poverty, witnessing horrific violence and suffering the long-term impact of deprivations. Without our support, these children are at heightened risk of exposure to trauma and exploitation,” said Lynn Croneberger, CEO of SOS Children’s Villages – USA.  “Relay for Kids gives us the chance to make a difference in the lives of these children. Together we can raise awareness about children in crisis and give them the chance to enjoy the safe and healthy childhood they deserve.”

Please take a moment to join in the Relay for Kids by sharing a post that will make a difference.
*Blogs must be shared between March 23 and April 24, on Facebook, Twitter, StumbleUpon, Reddit, Tumblr and Google+ via the Huffington Post’s social media icons. Each share will trigger a $1 donation up to $30,000. There are no limits on how many times you can share a post.

** via the Donate A Photo app for iOS and Android. Johnson & Johnson has curated a list of trusted causes, and users can donate a photo to one cause, once a day.
