KT Tunstall, Tiger Suit Album Review

As a music lover, I always like to hear new albums from new and established artists. When One2One Network offered me the opportunity to Review KT Tunstall's new album, Tiger Suit, I excitedly said "Yes!" I was only familiar with KT's previous Grammy nominated hits: Black Horse and the Cherry Tree and Suddenly I See, but I loved them both so I was anxious to hear more from her.

Tiger Suit is the third album from this Scottish born singer-songwriter and was released on October 5. The first single: Fade Like a Shadow is already a top 20 radio hit.

My first impression of the new album was rather neutral. Nothing knocked me out of my seat, I wasn't wowed beyond belief, but it wasn't bad. It's the kind of music I would listen to with a friend while sipping on some coffee or tea.

By the second and third listen, I did have a couple songs stand out to me. "Glamour Puss" had me singing ♪Choo choo on the roof in your high heeled shoes, glamour glamour puss♪ and nodding my head to the beat. "(Still a)Weirdo" felt reflective but had a nice spirit of optimism.

With the exception of a few songs that I could really do without, this album has been added to my IPod, and will definitely get a good listen on days where I just want to chill out and relax with some light tunes.

KT's Fall tour will begin on 10/31 in Portland, OR. Make sure to check to see if she's coming to your area, and be sure to check out the new album Tiger Suit by KT Tunstall.

For more information on KT Tunstall, visit her homepage and follow her on Twitter.

Disclosure: I received a free copy of this album for review from One2One Network, and by posting this review I am entering to win a gift card. All opinions are my own.

13; Sexy, and Damn Lucky!

Today's Writer's Workshop Prompt is: Write about a memorable babysitting job.

I had full C's, curvy hips and a bathing suit that had more skin than material. I was hot as hell and I was only 13.

It was July 4th weekend, and I had fallen into a great babysitting job. We would be staying in the penthouse suite at a hotel on the Beach. My job was to play with the 6 year old during the day, and for a couple hours while the parents had drinks at the bar. After that I was free to do "whatever."

The guys were 2 floors below us, on the balcony when I spotted them. They were muscular, tan, cute and, so dreamy, and they were college boys. I had to get them to notice me!

I strutted all around that hotel with the little boy in tow. He thought we were on a big adventure. We played and laughed while the guys watched from the pool. I could feel their eyes on me, and I loved every minute of the attention, but I pretended not to notice.

That evening, after the boy was in bed, I left the room to head out to the pool. The guys were there, and they came right over to me to talk. We talked and laughed, and before I knew it, I was in their room.

The offered me a beer, which I graciously accepted, as if this was a normal situation for me. I sipped on the beer, trying to keep my face from making a bitter fish face because this stuff was disgusting! As he sat on the bed next to me, he leaned in to kiss me. This college guy was totally in to me!

We made out for awhile, his hands were all over me. I tried to stop one hand from sliding into my bathing suit, and soon the other hand was trying the same thing. This had to end! This had gone to far!

So, I did all I could do, I told him I was on my period. No one would want to go near that, right?!

Wrong! He didn't care! He pointed me toward the bathroom, and said he would wait for me. Well, maybe he didn't care, but I did! I made my way to the bathroom, and just before I turned in the bathroom door, I opened the outside door to leave. He came over to stop me. He asked me where I was going and he said he thought we were having fun. I felt so bad. I had to tell him. It was the only way I was gonna get out of there.

"I have to get back, or I'll get in trouble. I'm only 13."

His face went white with a look of terror as he backed away from me and the door swung shut.

I remember an intense feeling of humiliation at having to tell him my age, and even as I walked back up the stairs to my room, I thought of turning back.

Looking back on it now, as a mother of 2 daughters, I just can't believe how young I was. I can't imagine my girls putting themselves in that situation. I was in a hotel room with 2 grown men! I didn't tell them my age, and I led them to believe I was older. What was I thinking?!

And, what if something more had happened?! Would they have been branded as child predators?! How would my actions have affected their lives?!

This one little weekend of babysitting at the beach was so much more. I wanted to be noticed, to be admired, and I was, but I let it go too far.

My most memorable babysitting job: I was 13, and I got lucky.

♪lucky to have been where I have been, lucky to be coming home again♪ (Jason Mraz)
