Wordless Wednesday, Lamp of Many Colors

I took this picture of the display that caught my eye at the Florida State Fair. These lamps are made from recycled plastic and are hand assembled. I bought the round rainbow colored lamp and I just love it! They also make beautiful plant and candle holders. I wasn't compensated in any way for this post. I just really like these lamps!

Got a Great old Post? Link it up at Tuesdays Gone

I started Tuesdays Gone over a year ago, because Mondays are so busy for me, so it's hard to get a new post completed for Tuesday. (I can't believe it's been over a year!)

With so many blog posts going up everyday, I'm sure there's some great stuff out there that has just been forgotten, or maybe some stuff that just didn't get much attention the first time around.  So, Tuesdays Gone is a way to bring your old post back into the light. I can't wait to see what you have that I might have missed the first time around.

It's great looking at old posts and remembering those moments when you first wrote it.  What will you be reminded of when you look through your old posts?!

Music Monday, Advertising Grabs Me with Music

Happy Music Monday! Today; commercials that grab my attention because of their unique songs. Yes, I'm that easy, just a little music and I'm all yours!

Heineken, you've done it again! Heineken always seems to find the best songs...

This is the newest one from Target. It's full of fun and color. Love it! (of course, from taking french in high school, I know the song is singing about plucking a chicken, and that makes it all the more comical to me.)

I shared this song by Fun in my New Music for a New Year post, but now, it's in a Chevy commercial, and it's just so catchy, I had to share again!

Have a super groovy Music Monday!

Aloha Friday, Late because I pushed Snooze

I'm late getting this Aloha Friday post up, because I was just so tired last night! I gave in to the sleepiness, and hoped to get up early and get this done. I should have known better! I hate getting up in the mornings! Sometimes the dogs get me up to take them out, 5 minutes before my alarm goes off, and I still get back in bed and push snooze. It is a terrible habit! I wish I could be that person that gets up 2 hours before they need to leave the house for work, but, I'm just not. A fact I must face, and just stop beating myself up over. What can I say...I love to SLEEP! And, I'm good at it! :)

So, Are you a good sleeper? Do you push snooze? or Do you get up easy in the morning?

answer in a comment, and then head over to An Island Life for more Aloha Friday questions.

What Free Cereal for a Year Looks Like

I won Free cereal for a year from General Mills from a sweepstakes that I entered! I had no idea that I had won, until Fed Ex showed up at the door with a ridiculous amount of cereal boxes! Yes, they sent all the boxes at one time!

I'm not complaining, we can certainly use the cereal, and I'm grateful to General Mills for the free cereal. I just can't help but laugh when I look at all this cereal in my kitchen at one time!

What's in a Name? Everything!

Mr. Dublin
I’m always curious how people decide on names for their pets. Picking a pet’s name is serious stuff, right?! It’s not something you can just pick out of a hat. Although, I have known of people that have a name picked out and then they try to find the pet to go with it. Normally though, It’s almost like you have to try the name out on them and see if it sticks.

My oldest dog is a black and tan Aussiedor, (that’s a Labrador Australian shepherd mix.) When we adopted him from the SPCA, he came with the name Jasper. Jasper just didn’t fit this 12 week old boy, so we knew we had to come up with something else that was better suited for him.

We tried out a few names based off favorite movie characters, and some more based off what his color reminded us of. Since he is black and tan, we were reminded of an Irish stout that is also black and tan. We tried calling him that, but it just wasn’t working. Again, we were back to random names, just throwing them out and hoping they’d stick. Then finally, like it was just his name all along, we decided on the name “Dublin.” Dublin is the city where the black and tan Irish stout is made, (my favorite drink,) so it was perfect.

Over the years, he has become Mr. Dublin, and sometimes he’s “Dubseywubsey” when we’re playing or just “Dubs” for short. No matter what we call him he just looks at us with a big grin and a wagging tale. He is just the sweetest boy.

We also have a cat, and an almost 2 year old Black Lab. We got our cat as a 6 week old kitten. A grey little boy with a touch of white striping. We had no trouble picking out a name for this one. That soft grey fur reminded us of Merlin’s beard, so Merlin it was.

Until, at 5 months old something went wrong. Merlin was acting so weird. With all the whining and strange behavior, I thought there was something wrong, so we took Merlin to the vet, and crossed our fingers in hope of everything being okay.

Everything was fine except Merlin was not a boy at all, and she was in heat. We had her fixed and knew that Merlin was no longer a fitting name for this little kitty girl. But, since she had come to know her name as Merlin, we didn’t want to confuse her too much, so “Merlin” became Marilyn. And, boy is Marilyn ever a fitting name for this diva!

Our other dog was also adopted. When we got him, we thought he would end up being a chocolate color, so for a couple of days, his name was Count Chocula, but it just didn’t seem to fit his loving personality. This boy loves to cuddle, and needed something a little simpler. We decided on Dawson, the last name of my husband’s favorite baseball player. It’s a perfect fit!

Dawson on adoption day.

It’s funny to think back on what other names we considered for our animals because I can’t imagine them being called anything else. Their names are part of who they are!

Aloha Friday, Cupid or Stupid?

Now that Valentine's Day is over, I'm curious, do you like it or hate it? Do you welcome Cupid's Day, or is Cupid just plain Stupid and you're glad it's over?

Wordless Wednesday, Food at the Fair

Hubby and I spent Monday walking around the Florida State Fair, and...EATING around the fair!

Music Monday, I'm In Like With You!

Happy Music Monday! I know it's Valentine's Day tomorrow, and I should be showcasing Love songs, but, I'm not big into Valentine's, and I'm just not feeling the traditional love song today. Instead I give you 2 songs by Ben Taylor that I'm in a real strong like with. These 2 songs sound very soft and romantic, but with a fun little twist. These are songs about Like (which, by the way is equally as important as love.)

Hope you enjoy!

Crap My Kid Eats

My kid went off to College and her eating habits got weirder. She's always eaten a little strangely, like Caesar dressing on her hot dogs, and french dressing on mashed potatoes, but this goes beyond that!

This "Dessert Sandwich" contains peanut butter, chocolate syrup, apple butter, Marshmallow Mateys, and chocolate chip cookies.

Well, at least there's some cereal in there...that's healthy right...um right?!

Aloha Friday, Fair Foods

Happy Aloha Friday! I'm happy that my Friday will be followed by a much needed 3 day weekend! Saturday I'll be going to a friends house for game night. Sunday will be a day for relaxing, and Monday I'll probably head out to the Florida State Fair for some deep fried something or 2. I will definitely have some fried dough (my fave,) and hopefully a maple bacon cupcake.

What's your favorite fair food?

Music Monday After Super Bowl

Well it's Music Monday, the day after the Super Bowl. I wonder how many people are calling in sick today, or at least a little late. I know I'll need some Starbucks energy to get me going after a late night!

So, what did you think of the Super Bowl? Was it everything you hoped? I have to say, for me, I think it was a little flat. Even though it was my Patriots playing, it just seemed a little boring, much like a tennis match just going back and forth. It really just lacked passion.

And the half time show, while I love Madonna, she seemed over rehearsed. The part with the pom poms just looked so stiff, like she wasn't being herself. It wasn't until she performed Like a Prayer that she finally seemed to relax, and then I was able to enjoy it.

Even the commercials lacked the usual excitement and flair.

I'm glad I spent the evening watching it with friends, but really, I could have been watching paint dry and enjoyed it just the same.

I don't know maybe it's just me, with everything going on in the world football just doesn't seem so important anymore.

My song choice for Music Monday a classic to express my feelings on the Super Bowl and my lack of excitement.

Super Bowl Party Pinterest Find, Slutty Brownies

I can't say it enough: I LOVE PINTEREST! Everyday I'm talking to someone about some awesome idea, product or recipe, that I found on Pinterest. Here's another one.

Slutty Brownies! The name alone captured my attention, and with that yummy looking picture, MMM I knew I had to make these for Superbowl Sunday!

This is the pin that dragged me in to this sinful chocolate delight.

I made them with my chocolate chip cookie recipe but you could use a mix. I used regular Oreos but, I think Double Stuff would make it even better. On my first batch I used my favorite triple chocolate chip brownie mix, and they are yummy! They would be perfect heated up with vanilla ice cream, but, since I'm bringing them to a Superbowl party, we will be getting a little messy with these, but of it is so worth it!

These were so good, we couldn't restrain ourselves, so I'm off to make a second batch for the party.

Thanks again Pinterest for another awesome find! And, thanks to The Londoner for creating this recipe and the name because "they are oh so easy and more than a little bit filthy."
