Aloha Friday, Is He Cheating?

Today's question comes from a local morning radio show discussion.

A woman married 3 years notices that her husband isn't paying attention to her when she's talking to him at a restaurant, but instead he's looking around the room, and checking out all the women. This is a behavior change for him. Is he cheating?

My answer: No, you're just boring! Maybe you should pick up on these cues and change the subject. Ask him about something he's interested in and stop making the conversation all about you.

We talk about your skin and the dimples on your chin

The polish on your toes and the run in your hose
And God knows we're gonna talk about your clothes
You know talking about you makes me smile
But every once in awhile...I wanna talk about me
(Toby Keith)

What do you think? Is this a relationship problem? Is he cheating? or looking to?

Answer below, and then check out Island Life for more Aloha Friday. Have a great day!

Heineken, You've Got My Attention!

The Heineken ad has captured a hit! Every time the commercial comes on, it grabs my attention with this fun song by Danish band, The Asteroids Galaxy Tour. Of course, I had to go search to find the whole song. What do you think? Do you like it?

Music Monday, Remembering Amy Winehouse

Amy Winehouse found dead at the age of 27. The causes are unknown, but many speculate an unsurprising death by overdose. Whatever the cause of her death was, the death of Amy Winehouse was the death of a great talent.

She may be known best for "Rehab," but my favorite Amy Winehouse song is "You know I'm No Good." The original was not embeddable, so here's the acoustic.

Another beautiful performance by Amy Winehouse "Love is a Losing Game."

In 2009, Winehouse started her own record company, Lioness records, and signed this great find, Dionne Bromfield.

And, one more song to remember her soulful voice, Amy Winehouse's rendition of "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?"

Most Memorable Sporting Event

We enjoy sporting events, and have been known to travel out of state just to catch a baseball game, but our most recent sporting event experience is going to be a hard one to top.

It is my first big win with my sweeping hobby (not the broom kind, I never touch those.) I was selected as the National Grand Prize winner of a trip to Daytona Beach courtesy of the upcoming Cowboys and Aliens movie. Since Daytona is only a couple of hours drive for us, we were taken by limo to our hotel.

We enjoyed our night in the hotel hot tub, had a nice dinner, and got a great night's sleep in the very comfy Marriott bed. The next day we went to the track to pick up our tickets to the Nascar race, and were treated to a very big surprise! We were going to spend the afternoon with the race team.

We went in the hauler and met the driver, toured the pits, went on the track, and Bear was asked to be the official sign guy for the day!
Everyone should go see Cowboys and Aliens!
These gas cans are huge!

My view for the start of the race

I watched the race with the Crew chief.

Unfortunately, the race didn't end well for our car.

Thanks to Universal Pictures for sponsoring the Sweepstakes, and special thanks to Mike Wallace and the people at JD Motorsports for helping to make this a sporting event we will never forget. They Truly went above and beyond to make the day special.

Back to School Safety Tip

Going back to school is a very exciting time, but it's also a great time to talk about safety at school. This includes the usual, who to trust, what to do if you see someone with a weapon, or harming someone, etc.., but it also includes the safety of your belongings.

When my oldest daughter was a Freshman in High School, she made the mistake of not locking up her book bag in the gym locker room, and unfortunately came back from PE, to find that her bag had been ransacked, and her birthday money stolen! It was a sad way to learn that not everyone in school can be trusted.

My best advice for back to school is to leave valuable items at home, bu,t if your child must bring money or Ipods, etc...,with them; make sure they lock it up. Master Lock is a great way to keep it locked up!
I'm locked up... (Akon)

Don't Get Ugly Step-Sister Face, Get Naturalizer!

Right now, thousand of bloggers are making plans for the biggest event of the year. BlogHer is like the Cinderella ball of the Blog Kingdom. It's full of workshops, and networking, and parties galore.

There's nothing like planning for a big event. The excitement rises as you get closer to the date. You make plans for the perfect outfit and accessories, and, of course, the shoes! Everyone knows the shoes make the outfit. But let's face it, it doesn't matter how cute your shoes are if they leave you with "Ugly Step-sister Face"!

You know, "USSF," It's the look you get from wearing shoes just because their cute, regardless of how they fit, or feel. Sure the shoes were fine in the store but once you've worn them all around BlogHer, soon, you'll be looking like this:

and then this:

and finally, yup, you guessed it, Ugly Step-sister Face:

I don't care how cute your shoes are, NOBODY looks cute when their feet hurt!

The good news is, there is a cure for "USSF" and it doesn't require a fairy godmother, (though if you know one, send her my way because I have some other wishes to make.)

Naturalizer wants you to be both stylish and comfortable. Their new line for Fall is full of trendy cute shoes, that effortlessly blend style and comfort.

With styles like this:
And, this:
You can be both fashionable and functional, and, you can go from "Ugly Step-Sister Face" to

This:

"Happy Princess of the Ball"

If I'm selected to represent Naturalizer at BlogHer 2011, I'll be on the lookout for "USSF" so I can provide a "shoe rescue" to those of you in need of more comfort, and I'll also be looking for the #Naturalizer hashtag on Twitter to provide a "shoe rescue" to those in need of more style. You'll now me by the Princess of the Ball Tiara on my head, and of course the smile on my face because I'll be wearing fashionably functional Naturalizer shoes.

To find out more about Naturalizer's trendy and comfortable shoes, follow them on Twitter and Facebook.

This post is for my entry in a contest sponsored by Naturalizer and Brown Shoe Company, Inc.

Aloha Friday, Harry Potter

My "almost 17" year old daughter went to the midnight showing of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, last night with a friend. We don't usually let her stay out that late, but her friend already had the ticket, and, well, it is Harry Potter. Her review of the movie: "It's the most beautiful movie I've ever seen. It was so sad, though. It was great and I'll go with you to see it again."

My question for you:

Will you see Harry Potter in the theatre?

Answer below, then head over to Kailani's for more Aloha Friday questions. But, before you go make sure to enter my $50 Tiny Prints Giveaway.

Friday Fragments, The Topic No One Talks About.

I spent last weekend in the hospital being poked and probed every 2 hours. This weekend is sure to be better!

Can we talk about colonoscopy for a minute?! I know uncomfortable topic, but I have to say, I always feared the discomfort of the procedure, but that's nothing, you're asleep for that. It's the day before when you have to drink a gallon, (literally, it's a gallon!) of nasty sea water tasting stuff to clean you out, and then you spend the night checking to see if everything coming out of you has cleared up, that is the horror of the procedure!

Oh, and let me say, if you're a patient in the hospital, and you need a nurse, use the call button! Don't selfishly yell the nurse's name over and over like a damn broken record! There are other patients, you know!

And, if you're a nurse of a patient that is waiting to produce something for culture, don't repeatedly ask the patient in your sweetest little baby voice if they've made "boom boom" yet. Seriously, you're a grown man, it's not cute!

Okay, enough dirty talk. Have a great weekend, and be sure to get your frag on at Half-Past kissin' time.

Music Monday, Sexy Showtunes

It's Music Monday. I've been in the hospital since Friday, and while I know I'm totally rockin' this gown, with my unshaved legs and matted hair,  I'm gonna leave the sexy, for these Broadway tunes. Have a great Music Monday!

Aloha Friday, Ice Cream

Did you know July is National Ice Cream Month? In our house everyone has a different favorite ice cream. Bear likes Mint Chocolate Chip, #1 likes Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, #2 used to love plain Vanilla, but now it's anything with brownies, and my favorite is Black Raspberry.
ice cream ice cream, we all scream for ice cream

My question for you is:
What is your favorite ice cream?

Wordless Wednesday, Rock Star Limo Ride

Thanks to a sweepstakes win, Bear and I went to Daytona Beach for the weekend in style. The sweepstakes included round trip airfare, but since we are only a couple of hours away, we received round trip ground transportation. The ride over was a town car, and while it was nice, it was a little awkward because the driver wanted to make conversation, and I just wanted him to drive faster!

When we checked out of the hotel, a black stretch limo pulled up, and caught everyone's attention. People eating breakfast stopped to see who might get out. There were whisperings of: "Who is it? Is it a star that was performing at the race? Is it...?"

Naturally, I strutted right over to the car, and acted like it was just something I do all the time, but inside I was screaming with excitement!

We got in and enjoyed the perfect end to a fabulous weekend.

Aloha Friday, Off To The Races

Happy Aloha Friday! I'm in Daytona Beach today thanks to my first big grand prize sweepstakes win! It was looking cloudy earlier, but the sun has come out, so I'm heading to the pool to read for a bit. Then we'll head out to the race a little later for some Nascar action.

My question for you:

Have you ever gone to the races?
